How to Use Taxis in Seoul

Taxis are useful for luggage, late evenings and awkward cross-neighborhood trips. An app or clearly written Korean destination reduces misunderstandings.

Before the ride

• Save the Korean destination name and road address.
• Check the estimated route and fare in a map or taxi app.
• Confirm the vehicle type before entering.
• Use designated airport taxi areas.

During and after

Standard taxis should use the meter unless an approved separate fare applies. Keep the receipt, check tolls and surcharges, and confirm belongings before the taxi leaves.

Late-night and boundary charges

Late-night, out-of-city and specialized taxi charges can differ. Because fare tables change, consult Seoul’s official taxi page instead of relying on an old screenshot or blog price.

If something goes wrong

Record the plate number, receipt, time and route. Seoul provides a multilingual QR complaint route for unfair-fare or service reports.
