First-time itinerary
3 Days in Seoul
A balanced plan with one main area per half-day, enough time to eat and room for weather or jet lag.
Historic Seoul
Gyeongbokgung → Bukchon → Insadong → Ikseon-dong. End with Cheonggyecheon if you still have energy.
Morning: start at the palace area after checking the day’s opening schedule. Lunch: eat around Insadong rather than crossing town. Afternoon: walk only the Bukchon lanes open to visitors and continue toward tea shops or galleries. Keep Cheonggyecheon optional if jet lag is heavy.
Seongsu and the Han River side
Seoul Forest → Seongsu cafés and shops → choose Jamsil, Ttukseom or a relaxed dinner nearby.
Morning: begin outdoors at Seoul Forest. Afternoon: choose a small number of Seongsu shops and pop-ups; queues and temporary opening hours can reshape the plan. Evening: stay nearby or continue east only if your energy and weather allow.
Choose your Seoul
Pick Myeongdong and Namsan for central shopping, Hongdae and Yeonnam for youth culture, or Gangnam for modern districts.
Central choice: best for shopping and a shorter final day. Northwest choice: combine Hongdae with Yeonnam or Mangwon. Southeast choice: choose either Gangnam, COEX or Jamsil rather than trying to cover all three.
Make the itinerary work
- Group stops by neighborhood instead of chasing a long attraction checklist.
- Confirm closure days before assigning palaces or museums.
- Keep one evening flexible for weather, shopping or rest.
- Use station exits and walking time when estimating transfers.
Before each day starts
- Check weather and any closure notices.
- Pin the first station exit and the final return route.
- Reserve only the time-sensitive activity; leave meals flexible.
- Drop one optional stop if the first half-day runs late.
